Question: Is there any maintenance required after designing a website?
Answer: In almost every case, the answer is Yes. The possible exception to this would be a basic bcard (like a web business card) for a very stable business that never changes its core information. Because bcards are about core information, as long as none of this changes, the site will remain static. That said, it is not necessarily a good thing to have a site that doesn’t need updates. In fact, if you want visitors to keep coming back, you have to give them something new to come back to (or hit them over the head and hope they get amnesia!) on a regular basis. Another alternative is to use Wordpress blogging software to build a content managed site. This can be extremely useful for businesses and professionals on a tight budget, or for content-centric e-zines and journals who need to be able to be able to update their own site on a regular basis.
Question: Who should maintain and update my site, and what will this cost?
Answer: You may choose to maintain your own site after the initial design and development is complete. If you choose this route, Web People Media will be available for questions and to offer tips on maintaining your site. We offer site maintenance training in addition to site development. You can also have us maintain your site for you. Prices are on a per project basis, but if you know this is what you will want to do, bring it up early in our discussions, so we can give you a sense of what to expect, based on your needs.
